Congratulations on taking a smart step toward protecting your smile! Your custom-made night guard is designed to help prevent damage from bruxism (teeth grinding and clenching) while you sleep. With proper care, your night guard can last for years and keep your teeth and jaw healthy.
How to Wear Your Night Guard
Consistency is key! A night guard only works when you wear it regularly.
Wear your night guard every night while sleeping. If you’re having trouble adjusting, start by wearing it for a few hours during the day and gradually build up to full-night use.
Always rinse it with cool or lukewarm water before placing it in your mouth.
Do not bite it into place. Instead, use your fingers to gently press it over your teeth.
Avoid exposing the guard to hot water, mouthwash, or denture cleaner—these can damage the material.
💡 Tip: Dogs love night guards! Always store your guard in a case and keep it out of your pet’s reach.
Daily Cleaning Instructions
Just like your teeth, your night guard needs daily care to stay clean and odor-free.
Rinse immediately after removal with lukewarm water to remove plaque and saliva.
Brush gently using a soft-bristled toothbrush and liquid dish soap—not toothpaste, which is too abrasive and may scratch the surface.
Air-dry your night guard completely before placing it in its case. Lay it flat on a clean, dry towel in a pet-free area.
🚫 Do not store your guard wet or wrapped in tissue or paper towels—it may be thrown away accidentally or grow bacteria.
Deep Cleaning Instructions (Recommended Weekly)
To keep your guard fresh and hygienic, perform a deep cleaning at least once a month—weekly if possible.
How to deep clean your night guard:
Soak it in white vinegar (non-metal bowl) for 30 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Soak in hydrogen peroxide (not mouthwash or denture cleanser) for another 30 minutes.
Rinse well and allow it to air dry completely on a clean towel before placing it in its case.
Clean the storage case every few days with dish soap and let it dry fully before reuse.
Bring It to Your Appointments
Always bring your night guard to your dental check-ups, especially if you’re receiving a filling, crown, or any restorative treatment. We’ll inspect your guard for wear and ensure it still fits properly.
Storage Tips
Store your night guard in its protective case when not in use.
Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight or hot areas (e.g., cars, windowsills).
Never soak it overnight or leave it in liquid for more than one hour.
