What You Should Always Do
While the implant itself won’t decay, poor oral hygiene can still lead to gum disease and bone loss. Consistent care is essential to protect your investment.
- Brush twice daily using a soft-bristle, narrow-head toothbrush. An electric brush like Philips Sonicare is highly recommended.
- Use a non-abrasive toothpaste to protect the implant crown while keeping gums clean.
- Floss daily with unwaxed dental floss, which slides easily around the implant without residue.
- Add a water flosser (such as a Waterpik with a Plaque Seeker® tip) to remove bacteria from hard-to-reach areas and reduce inflammation.
- Attend regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings so we can monitor implant health.
🚫
What to Avoid
Even though implant crowns are durable, improper use can still cause damage or complications.
- Never chew on hard items such as ice, hard candy, or popcorn kernels.
- Do not use your teeth as tools to open packaging or cut tape.
- Avoid toothpicks or metal instruments around your implant crown.
⚠️ Reminder
Treat your implant crown with the same care and caution you would a natural tooth.
